Savage Attack on Israel is Appalling

By now, you are probably aware of the brutal terrorist attack on Israel. Clergy and Citizens Against Racism stand with Israel and condemn this act of evil aggression perpetrated against them.

Many of us may not fully understand the conflict between Israel and those living in the Gaza Strip, yet we find the savage attack upon Israel appalling. There is no justification for entering a sovereign state to murder and maim its citizens.

Please support our Jewish brothers and sisters within our community and beyond. Information about ways to support can be found on the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond website. Your prayers are needed for Israel and the lives worldwide impacted by the horrendous attack.

Statement Against Voter Suppression

Clergy & Citizens Against Racism, RVA Inc. is asking all people of faith to join us in collective prayer against voter suppression. As people of faith, we believe Genesis 1:26-27, which infers that all humankind is made in God’s image. Infringing upon anyone’s right to vote is a form of mistreatment, which becomes an offense to the image of God.

CLERGY & CITIZENS AGAINST RACISM PROTESTS THE RACIALLY MOTIVATED MURDERS IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA

The members of Clergy & Citizens Against Racism (CCAR) are sickened by the recent hate-motivated murders that took place in Jacksonville, Florida, on August 26, 2023. Once again, families have been left to mourn the loss of loved ones who were murdered by a white supremacist filled with hate.
Three African Americans were murdered at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida. Jacksonville’s sheriff, T.K. Waters, said the racially motivated murders were the result of “a disgusting ideology of hate.”
The same ideology of hate that was responsible for the killing of 11 Jews at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; 23 people of mostly Latino descent at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas; 10 African Americans at a Tops Friendly Markets supermarket in Buffalo, New York; and a young Black gay man in Brooklyn, New York.

Letter to Governor Youngkin

On August 2, 2022 Clergy and Citizens against Racism sent a letter to Governor Youngkin expressing concerns about justice, equity and racism.   We have not yet received a response.  We will publish any response.

Trying to Make Sense of Tyre Nichols Death

CHANGE STARTS WITH CONVERSATION

This project is designed to bring conversation, collaboration and innovation to the process of dismantling racism and reimagining Richmond. We hope this will lead Richmond, the former capital of the Confederacy, toward a solid framework for advancing racial equity and be a model for discussion in other U.S. cities.

The prayer vigil event took place as scheduled.  Thank you to all who attended and participated.
