Statement AGAINST VOTER SUPPRESSION

Clergy Against Racism (CAR) recognizes that as people of faith, we have a moral and legal responsibility to stand against voter suppression and the blatant racism that it represents. The members of CAR have been called to hold our nation up to its highest ideals by appealing to its civic and biblical responsibilities.

June 2020 Statement

The Clergy Against Racism (CAR) in Richmond, Virginia stands in solidarity against the brutal killing of unarmed African Americans at the hands of mostly white police officers or citizens. This dehumanizing treatment of African Americans is intolerable and must cease. During the last three months most Americans have been shaken by the racially motivated killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and most recently George Floyd.

The Emmanuel 9 – Remembrance and Repentance

Four clergy members of Clergy Against Racism–Reuben Boyd, Rebecca Branch-Griffin, Katie Pocalyko, and Brent Melton–were featured in a video made for the Day of Remembrance and Repentance for the Emanuel Nine by the Virginia Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
